The Indianola City Council approved a rezoning of land east of the industrial park area at their most recent meeting. Interim City Manager Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the area was rezoned from M-1 to M-2, which will help attract a wider range of businesses that can use the land.
“The M-2 would allow for pretty much all allowable industrial uses within the City of Indianola that we have in our zoning code, while the M-1 really does limit the types of industrial uses. Really in summary what the M-1 says is you can’t have any outdoor storage, so that can limit the number and types of businesses that you can attract so the property owner asked that it be rezoned just so we have the ability, they have the ability to attract different types of industrial users.”
Dissell also said the rezoning is a small step in a multi-step process that the city will be working on with the Warren County Economic Development, the property owner, and other utilities entities.
