An Ottumwa man faces multiple charges following an arrest in Marion County over the weekend. According to court documents, just after 11 a.m. Sunday, a Marion County deputy attempted to stop a 2002 Lincoln Town Car because the registered owner’s driver’s license status was suspended. The driver, Calvin Lamont Wilburn, age 42, attempted to elude the deputy but after approximately a quarter of a mile of eluding he crashed the vehicle. Wilburn admitted to eluding the deputy due to prior warrants. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies found drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Wilburn faces a class D felony charge for eluding, in addition to aggravated misdemeanors for possession of a controlled substance and driving while barred. Wilburn also faces a serious misdemeanor charge for possession of a controlled substance – marijuana second offense, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.
