The Indianola City Council approved a rezoning of land to create more industrial ground east of the current industrial park at their most recent meeting. Interim City Manager Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the rezoning will help attract a wider range of businesses that can use the land, and the city is still working with the landowner to try and make the site more desirable.

“We are working on what kind of incentives and options we have to help the property owner get utilities extended out there and all of that, because we currently do not have utilities on the site. This is a big project for the city, right now we don’t have too much industrial ground that is available and this does open up some ground for us. So the city is looking really hard at what we can do to help the property owner make this project work.”

Dissell also said the rezoning is a small step in a multi-step process that the city will be working on with the Warren County Economic Development, the property owner, and other utilities entities.
