The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday morning. The Board held a discussion on the Fiscal Year 2023 Employee Benefits, and approved a resolution to renew with current carriers and benefits, which will see a 5% increase in premiums.

The Board approved county library funding of $95,000, with Pella receiving $30,000, Knoxville $20,000, and Pleasantville, Melcher Dallas and Bussey all receiving $15,000 dollars. This is a cut in funding for both Knoxville and Pella, as the superintendents sought to increase funding for smaller libraries in the county.

The board approved a resolution to become a member of the Mid-Iowa Planning Alliance, which will allow the county to potentially receive new grant funding, and approved a continuing contract with Impact Community Action to assist the homeless in Marion County.

They approved a request for the Knoxville Farmers Market for Tuesdays starting May 24 through September 21 and Saturdays May 21 through October 1, and a change order for the VA demolition project, which is still under budget and on schedule.

The Board also discussed non-elected employee salaries with a general target of a 5% increase, asking department heads to revisit their budgets as they continued their efforts to retain valuable employees, and provide needed services to the public at a fair cost.
