The Indianola City Council held the Maximum Property Tax Dollars Hearing at their meeting Tuesday evening, setting the maximum amount of property taxes the city can collect for the next fiscal year. Interim City Manager Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News since valuation has gone up a significant amount in the county, the city was able to lower the property tax levy.

“Our current city levy rate is $13.63 per $1,000 of valuation. With the current proposed budget we are going to go down to $13.56 per $1,000 of valuation. So we are actually going to pull 7 cents off of the levy while still bringing in 3.45% more tax dollars due to the valuation increase.”
