Pleasantville’s boys’ basketball squad will be facing a lot of uncertainty in the following season with three senior starters graduating.
The Trojans’ starters that are graduating are Taylon Mount, Mason Scheve, and Andrew Pender. Scheve, who averaged over 25 points per game, committed to Grand View University. Pender was second on the team behind Scheve in three-point shooting this past season at 35.5%. Mount was a two-year starter for Pleasantville in his career, which leaves Dayson Leerhoff and Parker Sheets to pick up the slack. Leerhoff averaged a near-double-double in 2021-22, averaging 13 points and just under ten rebounds per game. Sheets provided a good defensive presence at guard for Pleasantville. Sheets averaged just under three assists, three rebounds and over 1.5 steals per game. Coach Tom Wilkins will miss the seniors that will be graduating and hope that he will be remembered.
“I’m hoping they don’t forget ol’ coach and they come down and talk to me a little bit. It was a fun year, enjoyed it. Head some ups, and some downs, but anytime you get a chance to coach basketball and coach kids, you are pretty dang lucky.”
Pleasantville finished the 2021-22 season with a 12-10 record, a 9-7 West Central Conference record, and a second-round playoff defeat to PCM.
