Peactree Taproom in Knoxville hosted a Town Hall forum with Senator Amy Sinclair and Representative Jon Thorup.  Both spoke about the new tax bill that passed this week that will put Iowa at a 3.9% flat tax making Iowa the fourth lowest tax rate in the country. Also, a part of the bill would see the elimination of income tax on retirement. School vouchers were a hot topic during the forum. Representative Thorup discussed with KNIA/KRLS News his thoughts on the topic.

“What I like is the concept of parents being able to choose where their kids go to school. What I don’t like is that I think we have put public schools at a gross handicap. They have a huge load of regulations and rules that they have to spend time and money on and that isn’t the most efficient thing.”
