pleasantville-3

With boys’ basketball star Mason Scheve graduating from Pleasantville, the Trojans have a potential star in the works at the center position in Dayson Leerhoff.

Leerhoff came into this season playing in his first full year of basketball since eighth grade after sitting out last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Leerhoff played in all 22 games for Pleasantville, starting 20 of them. In those games, he averaged 13 points and nearly ten rebounds on 54% shooting and 69% from the free-throw line. His best performance of the season was a 16-point, 19-rebound performance in a 55-46 victory over Earlham January 11. Coach Tom Wilkins tells KNIA sports he likes the potential in Leerhoff, he just needs to gain a little more muscle.

“He’s just gotta keep working, he has to get in the gym this summer. I think he has to improve his range a little bit. He has a nice shot, he can shoot the three. He just didn’t have to do that for us this year.”

Pleasantville finished the 2021-22 season with a 12-10 record and a 9-6 record in West Central Conference play.
