The 2021-22 season saw PCM’s girls’ basketball squad adopt a defensive mentality, coming out of the season as one of the better defensive squads in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
The Mustangs gave up just 48 points per game this season while also hauling down 26 boards per game. PCM also was one of the conference leaders in steals per game, with ten, anchored by defensive stallworts Sophie Steenhoek and Emily Foster. The Mustangs for the majority of the season mixed between woman and zone defenses throughout the season to throw different looks at opposing teams. Despite struggling offensively, PCM still showcased defensive intensity that can win low-scoring games in the Heart of Iowa Conference that features Roland-Story, Nevada, and South Hamilton.
PCM finished the 2021-22 season with a 6-17 record and a 5-9 record in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
