The Class 3A championship defense ended in Indianola in the Substate round as #5 Pella fell to #6 Winterset 72-62, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS Monday.
Pella stumbled out of the start with six turnovers in the first four minutes, allowing the Huskies to grab a 10-0 lead, and while the Dutch pushed it back within two with a quick run, it never got closer for the remainder of the game. Winterset opened up the contest with a 19-6 2nd quarter, and a 10-2 run out of the halftime break pushed their lead to 24.
The hole was ultimately too deep, even as Pella took that large margin all the way down to six points with a minute left to play with a 29 point tally in the final eight minutes.
Pella was paced by 17 points from Noah Allen, 16 points from Keegan Hansen, 15 from Karl Miller, and 12 from Parker Elder. The Dutch finish 2022 at 17-7 and say farewell to nine seniors.
