The Class 2A State Tournament field was set Saturday, and features a mix of traditional teams and relative newcomers to the final eight.
Pella Christian — who is slotted in as the 4-seed next week, qualified for the 16th time in 32 seasons, and is seeking to end a 29 year gap between state championships after winning three in four seasons from 1990-1993. They come into the tournament with the most appearances of the remaining Class 2A field (state appearances before 2022):

#2 Rock Valley – 14 appearances (last in 2019), four state championships
#3 Mid-Prairie – 7 appearances (last in 2010)
#4 Pella Christian – 15 appearances (last in 2020), three state championships
#5 Roland-Story – 2 appearances as Roland-Story (last in 2012), 7 appearances as Roland
#6 Monticello – 4 appearances (last in 2021), 3rd consecutive appearance
#7 Jesup – 3 appearances (last in 2016)
#8 Red Oak – 3 appearances (last in 1993)
