Several Tulip City alumni have been busy with their spring seasons at the collegiate level, and a former Pella softball standout is starting her senior season in Division I on a high note.

Kinzi Van Wyk was named the Patriot League Softball Pitcher of the Week. On the opening weekend of the Lafayette Leopards’ season, Van Wyk posted a 2-0 record in three appearances and helped guide Lafayette to a 3-1 mark at the Eastern Shore Classic in Princess Anne, Maryland.

At Lafayette, Kinzi has pitched in 47 games and 204 innings. Van Wyk was a 3rd team Class 4A All-State selection as a senior at Pella High School in 2018, and was a starter on the 2015 Dutch state tournament team. At the January 24th Pella School Board meeting, Kinzi was approved to be a high school assistant coach for the Pella softball team.
