PCM’s boys’ basketball squad had a successful season, and they had a few players step up in increased roles.
Carson Vandelune, Durant Van Dyke, and Matt Rosonke returned as starters for the Mustangs and did not disappoint. Van Dyke led the team in points, rebounds, and blocks per game, averaging 19 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks. Van Dyke also led the team in shooting from the field, knocking down an impressive 64% of his shots. Vandelune finished second on the team in scoring with 17 points per game while leading the team with 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per contest. Vandelune also led the team in free-throw shooting, knocking down 72.5% from the charity stripe. Jacob Wendt came on strong this year, leading the team in three-point percentage, knocking down 35% of his shots from downtown. He also was second on the team in rebounds, averaging seven boards per game. Rosonke finished his season averaging eight points and 6.5 rebounds a game.
PCM finished the 2021-22 season with a 14-10 record and a 9-5 record in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
