A lot of questions greeted the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad when this past season started. Who would do the scoring and how would the players adjust to new roles for new coach Matt Ritchhart. Many of those questions were answered early on and throughout the season. After a rough start when the Panthers started 3-4, they won five in a row before losing 5/6 to end the season. Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports with a few exceptions, he was pleased with how the girls adapted to their new roles.
Ritchhart: “I think we got off to a little bit of a rough start with that loss to Osky, but we had a lot of growth and I think there’s a foundation going into next year.”
Emma Dunkin was in a newer role of being a scoring threat as she led the Panthers in that department at 11.3 points per game. Brittany Bacorn led the Panthers with 170 rebounds, which was 5th in the South Central Conference. Dunkin was also the leader in assists and steals this season. Knoxville finished up at 10-12 and will return 88% of its scoring next year, with the only senior graduating being Charlee Heffron.
