The Simpson Storm will face a familiar foe in the first round of the NCAA D3 Women’s Basketball Tournament tonight, hosting the Golden Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus in Minnesota. The Storm defeated the Golden Gusties in the first game of the season back in November 85-61, but Gustavus is on a nine-game winning streak that includes a MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) Title, giving up just 47 points per game in their 22 wins this season, with the 85 points given up to the Storm in the season opener the highest point total against them this season.

The Storm average over 86 points per game on the season, and haven’t dropped a game on their home court in over two years. Head coach Brian Niemuth tells KNIA Sports at this point in the season, the Storm just need to focus on what they do and making sure they don’t have a letdown as each game will be more important than the last.

Wisconsin-Oshkosh will host #20 Wisconsin-Lutheran to begin the day at 5:30pm, with the #5 Storm hosting Gustavus at 7:30pm in the Cowles Fieldhouse. Hear the Simpson game live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 7:15.
