The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will close campgrounds and day use recreation areas at Lake Red Rock ahead of schedule this fall to perform needed upgrades and repairs to water and sewer line systems.

At Lake Red Rock, the Howell Station and North Overlook campgrounds and the North Overlook and Fifield picnic areas will close for the season at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Wallashuck, Whitebreast and Ivans campgrounds will not be impacted by the closures and will remain open until their scheduled closure dates in October.

All existing reservations for campsites and picnic shelters affected by the closures have been canceled and fully refunded by the national reservation system, Recreation One Stop. No additional reservations will be accepted for sites in the closed areas after Sept. 6.
