PCM’s girls’ basketball squad improved their win total from four to six this season, and one of their biggest wins was early in the season against Perry.
The Mustangs came into the matchup after dropping to North Mahaska on the road the previous week. This matchup between the two teams was the first-ever matchup in the Bound era. PCM jumped out to a 25-13 lead at halftime thanks to suffocating defense. However, Perry made a comeback in the third quarter to tie the game at 27-all. In the fourth quarter, freshman Addison Steenhoek took over the game, scoring seven of PCM’s 13 fourth-quarter points. Her scoring outburst included a big three-pointer late in the game.
Steenhoek led the way in scoring for PCM, scoring a career-high 21. The 40-34 win over Perry was PCM’s third victory of the season and their third in the previous four games. The victory was also the third of five Heart of Iowa Conference victories. PCM finished the season with a 6-17 record and a 5-9 record in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
