Congresswoman Cindy Axne is working on solving the supply chain issues the world is currently facing, due to bottlenecks in shipping, lack of employment and transportation, and lack of supply. Congresswoman Axne tells KNIA News the pandemic exacerbated problems that already existed such as outsourcing jobs, and she is in favor of the America Competes Act, which aims to bring more production back to the USA.
“First thing it will do is lower the cost of cars for goodness sake. We only produce 5% of the semiconductor chips that we need in this country, and on average there are 2,000 of those chips in one vehicle. So imagine when we only produce 5% of those, and the rest of the countries need those as well, we are in competition to get the supply with those countries. It’s time we brought them back to our shores so we can lower the prices for American consumers, and by the way create more jobs.”
Congresswoman Axne was featured on In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard, including a response to President Biden’s State of the Union address last week.
