pleasantville-3

Three Pleasantville boys’ basketball squad athletes were named in the All-West Central Conference selections.

Mason Scheve was a unanimous first-team all-conference selection for the Trojans on the heels of a brilliant senior season. Scheve shot 54.5% from the field at 41% from three-point range while averaging 25 points per game for Pleasantville. He also led the team in steals averaging just over two per game. Scheve will be playing college basketball next season at Grand View University.

Andrew Pender and Dayson Leerhoff were named All-Conference honorable mention. Pender, who transferred to Pleasantville last season, averaged 11 points and four assists per game while shooting 37.5% from three-point range. Leerhoff, who played basketball for the first time in two years, averaged 13 points and just under ten boards per game starting at center for Pleasantville. This was Pender and Leerhoff’s first years as a starter. Coach Tom Wilkins says that he was excited to see the accolades his team gathered after a successful season.

“Just to see those accolades that those kids are getting. To share in the joy that they have in the game of basketball is something that I will remember for a very long time.”

Pleasantville finished the 2021-22 season with a 12-10 record and a 9-7 record in West Central Conference play.
