State Representative Brooke Boden awarded Indianola resident Rick Wilson with a Certificate of Recognition in the Iowa House of Representatives in February, honoring Rick for 35 years of volunteerism and service with the Indianola Noon Lions and other community events. Representative Boden tells KNIA News many events that take place in Indianola are because of the hard work Rick puts in, and he deserved to be honored for that commitment.
“Rick is a one of a kind. I think a lot of people refer to Rick as the Man of Indianola. If there is something that needs to be done, he is there volunteering for it rolling up his sleeves no questions asked. The time that he has put in, I know they’ve had to add in multiple people sometimes to replace him because he knows what he’s doing and is invaluable and I’m sure they will miss his service. So I really wanted to make sure I acknowledged his time and commitment to our community, because it’s people like Rick that make our town and our communities thrive because we are the people in our community, and we should all rise up to make it better.”
Boden also said this type of volunteerism should be promoted and encouraged for all in the community to take part in.
