Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend. Residents are reminded to set their clocks one hour forward to reflect the change that occurs at 2:00 a.m. Sunday. Daylight Saving Time also serves as an effective reminder for residents to check all safety equipment in their homes Knoxville Firefighter Paramedic Brandon Glenn tells KNIA/KRLS News about what you should check.
“Check your batteries make sure you have fresh batteries in there, at the same time you take down your smoke detector you can check the date on it. Smoke detectors have a 10-year life span so you may need to replace them altogether. You can also check your radon detector and any other gas detectors.”
Daylight Saving Time was first signed into law in the United States in 1918 as a way to conserve energy and support the effort of World War I.
