The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved support of a project for safety improvements on Highway163 for LDJ Manufacturing. The county will look to apply for a  Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy or RISE grant to help with the funding of the project. With the approval of support, the Board instructed County Engineer Tyler Christian to formalize the application which would then need Board approval to submit. If awarded the grant would cover up to 80% of the project. Christian tells KNIA/KRLS News about where the rest of the funding would come from.

“The county would be responsible for the amount not covered by the grant unless there is another funding source we can use. There’s potential we could go after a safety grant for the matching funds.”

The project would include the paving of the center median crossover and the addition of left-turn lanes for eastbound traffic and right turn lanes for westbound traffic turning into LDJ Manufacturing.
