Building season is approaching and the Marion County Zoning Department would like to remind citizens of the building process. A building permit is required in Marion County for any new structure or extension of a structure and can be obtained by going to marioncountyiowa.gov. Also on the website, you can apply for a driveway and septic permit. For those who are building new homes, Marion County does not conduct building inspections but a pre-construction visit may be required to ensure the dwelling is compliant with minimum setback requirements.
