The Marion County Republican Central Committee will be holding its annual County Convention today. Marion County Central Committee Treasurer Mary Spurgeon spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the convention.

“There are two County Conventions in Iowa one for each party Republican and Democrats. The Republican County Convention is today. The Convention is the second step from the Caucus. The goal of the County Convention is to elect individuals that will go to the district and state conventions. We also work on Planks during the Convention. Planks are our belief statements that lead up to our platform.”

The convention is today at the Sprint Car Hall Of Fame and Museum in Knoxville. Registration starts at 8:15 am and the convention starts at 9 am.
