The Iowa High School Speech Association State Individual Contest in Grinnell featured several area performers earning high scores.

Of the 34 acts advancing from Pella High School, 24 earned three Division “I” scores from a panel of judges, six earned overall ones, and four earned Division “II” marks.

From Pella Christian, 13 of 16 performances received the highest possible score of three “I” marks, one overall one score, and a pair of “II”s.

Knoxville’s Brandon Barkey earned two scores of perfect Division “I” marks as one of two Knoxville performers at the event.

PCM had four of 10 entries receive a “I” from all judges and another add an overall “I” score. Pleasantville had four straight “I” marks and six out of 11 performances overall earn a top score.

The Iowa High School Speech Association All-State nominees will be announced later today.
