A Des Moines man pled guilty in Marion County for an arrest related to drug possession in Pella last July.

Dale Friedel, 46, agreed to plea to one count of possession of a controlled substance 3rd offense, and assault on persons engaged in certain occupations, both Class D felonies. He was sentenced to five years of prison for the Marion County charges, to run concurrent with 20 years for unrelated charges in Polk County.

According to court records, Friedel was pulled over for erratic driving in July 2021 by the Pella Police Department, and in a subsequent search officers found a substance that the defendant admitted was methamphetamine, as well as 30 grams of marijuana.

The second charge came when he threatened Pella Police Department personnel following his arrest.
