After winning just two dual matches in 2021, Norwalk’s boys’ tennis team will look to improve on that mark with a lot of experienced underclassmen.
Three of the Warriors’ top four singles players are returning to the roster, who are Hayden Steele, Adrian Bush, and Cameron Nguyen. Norwalk will also be returning Austin Mills and Dean Lantz to the squad. Steele was second on the team in match wins last season with five behind Carter LaVelle, who graduated last season. Third on the team was Bush with three match wins. Coach Russell Place tells KNIA Sports that his biggest goal is building the team’s cohesion.
“One goal that I have is just building more team cohesion. I think that’s really important for us to be more collective as a team. That’s my biggest goal. If I look at the other teams in our conference, I see a lot of cohesion and that is something I really want to build on.”
Norwalk’s season begins with a dual matchup March 29th against Ankeny Centennial.
