The Simpson baseball team split a doubleheader with Illinois Wesleyan Friday, taking game one 7-3 before falling in game two 9-5. The Storm took game one, getting out to a 2-0 lead after the third inning, only to see the Titans tie the game with a two-run fourth. The Storm and Titans then each scored a run to make it 3-all heading into the bottom of the sixth, where the Storm exploded for four runs including a Brady Held three-run double. Trey Castile got the win on the mound.
Game two saw the Storm get behind 4-1 early on and unable to recover, despite tying the score in the top of the fourth, only to see the Titans answer immediately to take a lead they would not relinquish. Colton Major took the loss on the mound.
The games wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule for the Storm, as they return to American Rivers Conference play on Friday at Dubuque with an 8-2 record.
