The Indianola School Board approved sending the Certified Teacher Contract to the teachers in the district at their most recent meeting, part of the collective bargaining agreement reached in 2019. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News this is the last year of that agreement, so this is a procedural issue.

“The amount was already known, that’s going to be a 2.2% salary increase plus some extra insurance costs the district will pick up. This was an important step, we can get the contracts out the teachers and then they will have 21 days to get them back to us. It’s just good for everybody to get that done before the end of the school year, to know where everybody is at. Notably, our base for beginning teachers next year is over $50,000 which is very competitive.”
