After winning the state championship in the 400 meter dash last season, Norwalk girls’ track and field star Claire Farrell has her sights set on higher accomplishments.

In addition to winning the state title, Farrell also qualified for state in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. She also is the first Warrior this season to qualify for the Drake Relays after finishing first in the 400 meter dash at the IATC Indoor Meet at Iowa State University on the 11th. Farrell says that despite her great start to the season, she is hoping to trim her time down.

“My PR in the 400 is 55.35. I set that in Texas during my AAU club meet. I want to go sub-55. Obviously, I need to work towards that and make sure I do things that will get me to that goal.”

The first outdoor track meet of the season for Norwalk is Tuesday at Iowa City West.
