The Indianola Fire Department presented their annual report to the Indianola City Council at the most recent meeting, detailing the calls and reports the department responded to in 2021. Indianola Fire Chief Greg Chia tells KNIA News he has placed a big emphasis on improving response times for both fire and EMS calls, and 2021 showed their hard work has paid off.

“I got here in the 2014-15 spring, and our response time to EMS calls was over 8 minutes, and we are down to 6 minutes and 24 seconds. Our fire responses were over 14-plus minutes at that time, and now we are down to just over 9 minutes. That’s critical. Not only for property salvage but for those who are having a medical issue.”
