The Knoxville City Council met in a special session Monday. The council considered a request from Knoxville Fire Department Chief Cal Wyman on the purchase of a new ambulance. Wyman explained the new ambulance is needed due to repairs on the other ambulances in the fleet. The council approved the purchase. Chief Wyman tells KNIA/KRLS News what the new ambulance means for the department.

“Now we will have four ambulances that are reliable that we can respond and still maintain the quality of service and still stay responsible to the taxpayers as well.”

The new ambulance is estimated to arrive in August.
