knoxville-vs-norwalk-rivalry-showdown

The tennis season is set to get started today and Knoxville will host Norwalk at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts. The Panthers are trying to replace two players who graduated last year and contributed to Knoxville’s season opening win over the Warriors last year. Panthers Coach Nick DeMoss tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he likes playing challenging competition and knows Norwalk has improved from this time last year.

DeMoss: “I know Norwalk returns everybody from last year, and they had a lot of new faces in the line up and they started to roll after they lost to us last year, and now we have some new faces so we’ll see how we can compete with them and hopefully we improved over the summer.”

Norwalk went 8-7 last season including rolling off seven straight dual victories after the season opener against Knoxville. Norwalk Coach Kristin Geisler tells KNIA/KRLS Sports finishing each match is what she will be looking for with her team.

Geisler: “When we get into the second set can we finish off that set or get into a tie breaker. I want to know if we can get in and play a good quality match.”

The match gets underway at 4:15. Other action for Knoxville today is the boys and girls golf squads hosting West Central Valley and Clarke at Pine Knolls Country Club, and girls soccer travels to Newton.
