This Saturday at Auld park from 1 pm-5 pm Earth Sweep will be held. The event is to help raise awareness about the environment. There will be two featured speakers. Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz will speak about the behavior of our local wildlife and the impact we have on them. Karen Brown with Brown’s Sanitation will talk about her business and ways to recycle locally.

Cullie Provenzano, organizer of Earth Sweep spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about what got her interested in raising awareness about the environment.

Over the last few years, I have seen a real need for it and I have been paying attention to nature around me, and it really makes me sad to see all the trash and garbage everywhere. You go out for a walk, you’re driving and you see it alongside the road. It’s very disheartening to think about the animals in our environment and what they have to live through.

There will be kid friendly games and eco-friendly grab bags while supplies last.
