After a breakout 2021 campaign led to a remarkable weekend for Pella’s top hurdler, the senior has been chomping at the bit to race outdoors. Following an offseason of hard work, Dutch Senior Gage Huyser showed why — the senior placed 2nd in the 110 Meter Hurdles at Dallas Center-Grimes and their Mustang Classic. With a time of 14.87 seconds, he broke both the Drake Relays Blue Standard (14.9) and school record (14.93 – Jordan and Michael Buma) in his first official mark of the season; Gage is earning an auto-bid to the hurdle race at the Drake Relays April 29th and 30th. Huyser also placed 1st in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay and 400 Meter Hurdles. Pella earned the meet victory with 140 team points. Full results from the DCG Classic will be available later this weekend.
