The Class 1A #8 ranked Pella Christian girls tennis team kicked off their season Friday cruising to a 9-0 sweep over Centerville.
The Eagles went 6-0 in singles matches dropping just seven combined sets in the six matches. In doubles play, the Eagles made quick work of Centerville, losing just nine combined sets. Head Coach Danielle Stubbs had four returning varsity players this season and says their leadership has been a big help to her this season.
“They’ve just been so wonderful to some of the younger girls, some of the newer ones who are working their way. Just informative and really encouraging and just what I have expected of them and would really like them to help with this year.”
Pella Christian improved to 1-0 on the season and next host Albia on Monday at 4:15 p.m.
