It is a light schedule for Knoxville athletics Monday as the Panther Boys Soccer Squad plays their home opener against Oskaloosa. Knoxville is 0-1 after a tough setback to Carlisle on Thursday. Coach Dylan Mick tells KNIA/KRLS Sports returning to Randy Wilson Track and playing on the new turf field takes him back to his playing days and when he first got into coaching.
Mick: “I always joked with my coach Jon Smith, who I played and coached for, that in a million years I never thought we would have a turf field. It is amazing how we can practice and play the style and the difference it makes in practice.”
The Panthers had previously played home games at Ken Locke Stadium, but when the new turf was put in at Randy Wilson Track, the move was made to switch the soccer matches to the new surface. Monday’s contest is set to begin at 7:00.
