Work continues on the VA project in Knoxville. Marion County Board of Supervisors Chairman Mark Raymie spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the progress of the project.
“Everything underground has been mitigated and is being pulled up, so they are nearly done with the north side and they are starting to demo the south side and that won’t take them long to do that. There are no real issues; it’s the same stuff we have run into since the start of the project. You see a tunnel that wasn’t on the map and had a little more of the level one asbestos than we thought, and there is a crew that goes in there and mitigates that right away and continues with the demo.”
The first parcel was put up for sale earlier this month, with more scheduled to be for sale in the fall.
