The Knoxville City Council met in a regular session Monday. The council approved entering into a general obligation corporate purpose loan agreement not to exceed $1,630,000 for street improvement projects. The council approved submitting a Community Catalyst Remediation Grant application and approved a matching Municipal Grant for 205 East Main street in Knoxville. At 205 East Main Street is an abandoned two-story building, and the buildings owners have proposed to rehabilitate the building by converting the second floor to apartments and returning the main floor to commercial use. A Community Catalyst Building Remediation application could result in $100,000 in state funding to help in filling the funding gap for the project. The council would then submit a matching $100,000 grant to help with the project, the matching grant would also increase the chances of securing state funding.
The next City Council meeting will be on April 18.
