The Knoxville City Council approved the submission of an application for state funding, and to provide a matching $100,000 grant for the rehabilitation of the building at 205 East Main street in Knoxville. Knoxville Economic Development Director Glenn Lyons spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the project.
“The building was abandoned, and it has damage to the roof, the rear wall, and had a bat colony occupying the second floor. A local couple acquired the building and have been putting together plans to renovate the building. The full renovation will be what they are calling a social club which will be a food and beverage establishment, and there will be two apartments upstairs as well.”
The project’s expected cost is over $400,000. For more with Glenn Lyons tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
