The Indianola City Council met in a special session Wednesday afternoon, approving the hire of Ben Reeves as the new City Manager. The search for the position began in December, and narrowed 38 applicants to three, and the council held a public meet and greet last week in addition to private interviews in closed session.

Reeves served as the City Manager of Santaquin, Utah, and has 18 years of experience in the public sector, including serving the City of LaVerkin, Utah as City Manager and Treasurer. Reeves has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Utah University and a Master of Science in Organizational Behavior and Strategic Leadership from Roberts Wesleyan College.

Indianola Mayor Stephanie Erickson tells KNIA News they were looking for someone to be dedicated to the community.

“We were looking for somebody who is very adaptable to the changing times of everything. And a good communicator, a servant leader as Mr. Reeves often refers to his type of leadership, and somebody that is excited to be here and is looking at a longer term stay. Potentially Mr. Reeves is looking to finish his career here in the next 15-20 years.”

Reeves is expected to start May 23rd.
