Simpson baseball player Brady Held became the first Simpson Storm athlete to cross the 200 strikeout mark in the program Wednesday as the Storm took down Nebraska Wesleyan 9-1. Held pitched six innings striking out 11 in dominating fashion, as the Storm had an early 2-0 lead that carried into the bottom of the fifth, where they scored an extra seven runs in the final three innings to earn the win. The Storm are now 10-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play, and host Buena Vista Friday and Saturday.

The Simpson softball team split with Dubuque in American Rivers Conference play Wednesday, winning 13-12 and falling 11-1. The Storm held on to a late lead in a back and forth contest in the win, giving up multi-run innings in each of the first three but scoring nine themselves to lead 9-8 after the third. Dubuque tied it up in the fifth, but the Storm scored four in a row to lead 13-9, then held off a seventh inning rally to pick up the win. The loss was all Dubuque, as they jumped on the Storm to lead 7-0 in the first three innings, then continued to add to the tally as they scored three in the sixth to make it a ten run game and end the contest early. The Storm are now 17-10 overall and 2-4 in ARC play, and will play Nebraska Wesleyan at home next Wednesday.
