After their first American Rivers Conference win eluded them on Saturday, the Central College baseball team picked up their first conference win of the season with an upset 14-13 road win against the #18 team in Division III, Loras College.

Central ended its eight-game losing streak by beating the Duhawks, and grabbed their first win over a ranked opponent since beating No. 10 St. Thomas University (Minn.) in 2016. Right fielder Colton DeRocher had a monster game going 3-for-5 at the plate and tying a school record with six RBIs on a pair of three-run homers. DeRocher’s multi-home run game was the first for the Dutch since March 2010. Additionally, Logan McCoy and Declan O’Hare each had solo home runs, and McCoy drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning with a single to left field. Kurby Vowels came on in relief in the sixth for Central and navigated through four innings, scattering four hits and three runs en route to the win.

The win pushed the Dutch over .500 again, as their record now sits at 10-9 overall, and 1-8 in conference. Central heads to Cedar Rapids for a three-game set with Coe College this weekend, starting Friday at 3 p.m.
