The City of Knoxville in March started two programs as a part of their downtown revitalization efforts. Knoxville Economic Development Director Glenn Lyons spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the response to the façade and street café programs.

“We have received one street café application to date and we are expecting at least one more. There are seven or eight restaurants that are eligible and if we get two applicants and they are successful we anticipate more to come in. With the façade applications, we have received two to remove metal and I will be working with them to get the detailed information that we need. I expect more applications to come in and the $60,000 allocated will be used.”

The application deadline is May 31.
