The Indianola City Council received a presentation regarding the sidewalks on the Indianola Square Reconstruction Project at their meeting Monday, specifically referring to the slanted edge on the sidewalks leading to the street. Interim City Manager Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News some of the concerns came from the rise in elevation from the curb to the street, especially in areas with a larger slope.

‘Moving forward, the elevations on the streets and sidewalks are matching up better than some portions in Phase 1 that were noticeable. So I think the council is comfortable knowing that going forward these issues aren’t going to be nearly as great as they were with the first phase. But we really wanted to reiterate this wasn’t a failure in construction, it wasn’t an error in construction, those were dont to plans and there are reasons why we had to do those different elevations on the sidewalk and the street.”

Dissell also said the presentation from Bolton and Menk regarding the slope can be viewed on the city YouTube page. Find a link to the meeting below, with the presentation beginning at the end of the meeting.
