OTHER AWARDS:
New this year, the students in attendance participated in a “Make it” Challenge. Teams of 2 or 3 students were given the task to create an original piece of art using three “mystery media” given to them, and two randomly drawn Theme prompts for the artwork. After working on their projects for nearly 2.5 hours, students displayed their finished pieces.
Students and teachers then were able to cast ballots for their choices for the following categories:
Development of Theme
Creativity with Media
Craftsmanship
The Pella High team of Elizabeth Quayle and Lydia Vos created an entry that they named “A Show of Love” that combined the two prompts of “fashion” and “love”. Their piece was voted best Theme Development. They earned the “MAKE IT” trophy for our Art room and took home smaller personal trophies.
The Pella High Team of Willa Kelpe, Carissa Rozenboom and Isabelle Weesner’s “Make it” entry titled “Meet my Furry family” was recognized as a runner up in the Creativity with Media category.
