Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Marion, and Mahaska County will hold their second annual Great Iowa Road Trip today from 9:00 am-6:00 pm and Saturday, April 9 from 9:00 am-6:00 pm. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Community and Economic Development Director Dan Nieland spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the event.
“It’s a self-guided tour of 29 different businesses over Marion and Mahaska counties. The good thing about this especially with gas prices the way that they are, you are never more than 25 minutes from another stop, and once you’re there you get six or seven spots within walking distance.”
Nieland tells us what the goal of the event is.
“The goal started last year was to see what the Iowa State extension could do to help promote small business. As everyone is aware they were hit really hard during Covid. We are trying to figure out how we get people out, how do we get them into the shops, and how do we help promote those small businesses.”
