fire-4-9

Indiana Township Fire and Rescue and Knoxville City Fire and Rescue were called to a residential structure fire in the 2200 block of 140th Avenue in Attica at 7:39 pm Friday night. When crews arrived, they found a two-story structure fully engulfed. Crews started a water shuttle operation, along with an aggressive defensive attack on the fire from the exterior of the structure. Five tender trucks were used to shuttle water from two locations: a water tower east of Pershing and a hydrant south of Knoxville. The fire was extinguished at 9:45 pm and crews remained on the scene until 11:20 pm extinguishing hot spots. The home was a total loss. Three dogs were lost in the fire, and no one was home at the time the fire started. The Marion County Sheriff’s office is investigating the fire and the cause is undetermined. Marion County Emergency Management was contacted along with the Red Cross. Indiana Township Fire was dispatched a second time at 2:30 am, as part of the roof rekindled, but that fire was extinguished quickly.

Indiana Township was assisted by Knoxville Township Rural Fire, Columbia, Knoxville City Rescue, Melcher-Dallas, Bussey, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office
