Norwalk Girls Shuts Out Des Moines Lincoln, Boys Shut Out by Ankeny Centennial

Norwalk’s soccer squads came out on different ends of shutouts Friday night as the girls shut out Des Moines Lincoln, while the boys were shut out by Ankeny Centennial.

The No. 1 in Class 2A Warriors’ girls soccer squad continued their terrific start to the season with a 10-0 victory over Des Moines Lincoln. Norwalk got a season-high seven goals from Jocelyn Bice, including six in the first half. The Warriors also got goals from Serenity Madonia, Addison Burch, and Reagan Holtorf. Norwalk now improves to 5-0 on the season. Girls Coach Andrew Messer says that his focus was for his team to be consistent and execute in their matches.

“We’re just using this game to get prepared for other games as well. We want to make sure that we are a consistent team. Des Moines Lincoln had some scary opportunities against us and we want to take care of that. But, we told the girls at the beginning and at halftime that we want to take this seriously. We want to make sure we are taking it and doing our absolute best so I believe that’s what we did.”

The Warriors’ boys continue to remain winless after losing to Ankeny Centennial Friday night, losing 5-0. Norwalk, with the loss, drops to 0-3 and suffers their second shutout in as many games.

Both teams will be back in action Tuesday as they take on Little Hawkeye Conference foe Pella.
