The Indianola boys soccer team faced off against some of the top class 3A teams in the state Saturday in a tournament at Urbandale, while the Indians boys and girls track and field teams also faced state meet level competition in their meet at WDM Valley.

The Indians girls track team placed 8th with 52 points, seeing top finishes from Grace Gioffredi placing 4th in the 100m, Emily Naughton placing 2nd in the 800m, Gracie Foster 2nd in the 1500m, and the Sprint Medley team also placed 4th.

The Indians boys placed 7th with 58.5 points, with Logan Piper picking up a 1st place finish in the 400 Hurdles, Walker Whalen placing 1st in the Discus, Carter Erickson placing 4th in the 100m, Logan Hoger placing 5th in the 3200m, the 4x100m Relay Team placing 3rd, and the Distance Medley team placing 2nd.

The Indians boys soccer team fell to Urbandale 5-0, and Ankeny 4-0. Head coach Heath Weeks says while the scores did not favor the Indians, he felt his team found a lot of value in the games as they were playing shorthanded, and had a lot of players step up and play bigger roles when they were asked. Indianola next plays at Pella Christian on Tuesday.
